/ Overview

What we built.

PayTransit is a payroll SaaS we built for small and mid-sized businesses in the Caribbean. Owners run payroll, track staff time and leave, and export payment files for RBC, Scotiabank and Commonwealth Bank, all from one dashboard. Staff clock in and out from a shared kiosk screen, those hours flow into the pay run, and the business pays everyone with a file their bank already accepts. Plans start at $49 a month based on team size.

  • Pay runs with gross and net pay calculation
  • RBC, Scotiabank and Commonwealth Bank export files
  • Kiosk time clock with lunch tracking
  • Leave and schedule management
  • Payroll cost reporting and dashboard
  • Subscription billing and free trial

/ The Challenge

Where founders got stuck.

Most payroll tools are built for the US or UK and don't produce the bank files local Caribbean businesses actually use, so owners were calculating pay in spreadsheets and keying payments by hand. PayTransit had to get the calculations right, tie them to real clocked hours and leave, and output exact bank formats, while staying simple enough for a café owner to run on a Friday afternoon.

/ Our Approach

How we shipped it.

Step 0101

Start from the bank file

Local businesses pay staff by uploading files to their bank, so we worked backwards from the RBC, Scotiabank and Commonwealth Bank formats and made every pay run end in a file the bank accepts.

Step 0202

Time that feeds payroll

Built a kiosk-style time clock where staff pick their name, clock in, start lunch and clock out. Hours and leave flow straight into the next pay run, no re-keying.

Step 0303

Owner dashboard

One place to see headcount, payroll cost this month, the next pay date and monthly cost trends, with quick actions for a new pay run, adding an employee or logging hours.

Step 0404

Packaged as SaaS

Marketing site, free trial, team-size pricing from $49 a month and in-app billing, so the client could sell it to other businesses, not just run it.
