/ Overview

What we built.

Qwess is a logistics platform we designed and built for a freight forwarding business operating out of a Miami warehouse. Packages are scanned in on arrival, grouped onto air or boat manifests, and tracked until they ship. Customers get a simple public search, type a tracking number or manifest name and results load automatically, even from the last few digits, while staff work from a manifest dashboard that shows every shipment, its warehouse, who created it, its shipment date and whether it is open or closed.

  • Public tracking search with partial-number matching
  • Warehouse scan-in for incoming packages
  • Air and boat manifest creation
  • Open and closed manifest states
  • Date-range filtering and pagination
  • Carrier status and staff accounts

/ The Challenge

Where founders got stuck.

The business was running intake and manifests across spreadsheets and messages, which made it hard to answer the one question customers always ask, where is my package. The system had to handle high-volume scan-in at the warehouse, keep air and sea shipments separate, and let customers find a package from an incomplete tracking number without exposing other people's shipments.

/ Our Approach

How we shipped it.

Step 0101

Model the warehouse floor

Mapped how packages actually move, scanned in at the Miami warehouse, grouped onto air or boat manifests, then closed and shipped, before designing a single screen.

Step 0202

Search first

Built the public experience around one search box. Customers type a full or partial tracking number and results load automatically, no account needed to check a package.

Step 0303

Manifest control

Staff create manifests per shipment date, filter by today, this week, this month or a custom range, and move each one from open to closed with a full record of who created it.

Step 0404

Roles and handover

Separate user and staff access, carrier status tracking, and a clean admin layer so the team can run daily operations without spreadsheets.
